Manual Handling Awareness

What is Manual Handling Awareness?

Manual handling awareness helps delegates to understand that transporting or supporting a load by hand or bodily force can result in injury. It includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving loads. A load can be an object, person, or animal.

The Hazards

Handling any load can result in a musculoskeletal injury. This can be as simple as a mild or dull pain, to life-altering conditions. Carrying or moving anything at work can result in injury or help to exaggerate existing conditions.

Controlling the Risk

Communicating a course such as this will help delegates to make informed lifting choices. We know many people with the goal to get the job done, often at their own expense. We help them to make better choices and understand the risks.

Course Delivery

Manual handling awareness can be delivered face to face or via Zoom/Teams. We feel that delegates get a far better experience when the course is delivered in person, however, we appreciate this is not always possible so we work around you and your needs.

We can tailor the content to include your business and your operating practices, along with any key messages that you need your workers to understand such as your policy, procedures, and working practices. The primary elements of the course include:

Understanding the risk.

Identifying the hazards.

Applying the Hierarchy of Risk Control.

Types of manual handling

Protecting yourself and others.

The hidden dangers.
